The Central Library of Zanjan University of Medical Sciences
The Central Library of Zanjan University of Medical Sciences was formally inauguratedin August 10, 2012, with the presenceof Dr. Hashemi, the Minister of Health and Medical Education.
The library was constructed with a total area of 3063 m²intwo floors in the Pardis area of the University.
Supporting educational and research activities via providing scientific resources and required information for the University’s faculty members, students and staff  of Zanjan University of Medical Sciences is the prominent goal of the Central Library.
The Central Library, as the heart of the libraries of Zanjan University of Medical Sciences is also responsible for coordinating and managing all of its dependent libraries.
The central library pursues the following goals:
  • Providing the necessary information resources for faculty members, students, staff, doctors and university researchers in the best possible way.
  • Collecting and efficient organization of library resources to enhance easy accessibility.
  •   Advancing scientific, research and cultural activities in order to improve the final determined goals of ZUMS.
  • Promoting specialized knowledge of the faculty members, students, physicians, researchers and staff of ZUMS.
  • Launching the library website and using various methods in order to introduce library facilities and services to users.
  • Advancing and updating the resources and available information using digital library software.
  • Dedicating a different section for each division of the library and specifying appropriate space to each section.
  • Periodic book weeding and upgrading library resources.

Strategic Plan of the Central Library of Zanjan University of Medical Sciences
Vision: Central Library of Zanjan University of Medical Sciences is trying to be accounted for as an equipped library and perfect medical information center at the standard and acceptable level within the next 5 years. It is estimated that it will be a permanent scientific research center at an outstanding level.
Mission: Promotion of the scientific ranking of the faculty and all users via improved access to the required scientific resources along with effective and efficient management and use of scientific data and resources are the main missions of Central Library of Zanjan University of Medical Sciences.
 
 
The duties of resources division staff:
  • Requesting catalogs of resources from publishers and distributing them among  educational groups to select the required ones
  • Selecting and Comparing the latest available references with the existing ones in the library resource section
  • Carrying out inquiries from the users and students to inform their required books and resources
  • Comparing   the incoming requests with the library holdings.
  • Organizing a purchase list based on the requests
  • Meeting the demands concerning the collected resources via purchasing them mostly from domestic publishers participating at the annual  international exhibition
  • Receiving the ordered resources and controlling them with the shopping list.
  • Registering the purchased books details in the registration offices
  • Weeding the existing resources and removing the outdated ones.
