The Medical –Surgical Nursing Department is considered as one of the earliest and basic departments of the faculty of Nursing and Midwifery, undertaking planning, teaching a large part of the theoretical and practical courses of the undergraduate nursing in addition to other disciplines and related degree courses. The department was established first as the Psychiatric Nursing Unit in 2014 and acknowledged as an independent unit in 2018. The mission of the department is to educate competent, accountable, ethical and community-oriented nurses who are encouraged to merge critical thinking and nursing principles in internal diseases and evidence-based surgery, help the patients at community level, and in therapeutic and rehabilitation centers.
This department has 12 academic staff including an assistant professor, eight lecturers, and two staff (one with master degree and the other with bachelor’s in nursing).
