The Department of Psychiatric Nursing since its establishment has run a series of courses such as individual and social psychology courses, mental health nursing and related internship courses for undergraduate nursing students in both Zanjan and Abhar nursing faculties. This department has also been offering psychology courses to general undergraduate students, and mental health courses for undergraduate operation room students and mental health and mental illnesses courses to anesthetics students.
The Psychiatric Nursing Group also administers educational and collaborative research courses for postgraduate students in emergency, special-care nursing, medical-surgical nursing as well as dissertation counselling for postgraduate students of nursing and midwifery. This department educates skilled, capable, committed and efficient students taking into account the high human values derived from Islamic doctrine aiming at community health promotion relying on a community-based approach to meet the physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs of the patients with a particular emphasis on the mental health.
Since the beginning of 2018, the Psychiatric Nursing department has started its activities with two faculty members (an associate professor and a lecturer) as an independent educational group.
