The Department of Parasitology and Mycology was founded in 1987, as the Department of Parasitology, Mycology and Entomology, synchronously with the establishment of the Medical School. The Entomology section was then separated and named as Department of Entomology & Vector Control in 2009. Our department has been responsible for running a variety of basic, clinical, and diagnostic parasitology courses for students in different academic disciplines, including general medicine, pharmacy, health and allied medical sciences, nursing, and midwifery. The Department of Parasitology & Mycology began to train postgraduate students in medical parasitology by the admission of M.Sc. and Ph.D. students in 2005 and 2012, respectively. Currently, the faculty members of the department, holding the positions of full professors, associate professor, or assistant professors, are engaged with both teaching courses and supervising the postgraduate thesis projects.
