Hydrodistillation and Soxhlet Method for Herbal Extraction

 Two typical extraction methods for volatile and non-volatile content of herbal materials are hydrodistillation and soxhletmethod respectively. In this workshop you will learn how to obtain essential oil from lavenderaerialparts using Clevenger apparatus. You will also use Soxhlet apparatus for total extraction.  

Application of TLC in the isolation and analysis of Natural Products

Thin-layer chromatography (TLC) is an easy, inexpensive, rapid, and the most widely used method for the analysis and isolation of small organic natural and synthetic products. This workshop will focus on running TLC for a mixture and a standard. Different methods for detection of spot(s) under visible and non-visible lights will be discussed.
